Success on YouTube is completely defined by the creator. 100 subscribers is success. Hitting the monetisations goals is success. 100,000 subscribers is success.

Whatever your definition of success on YouTube is, here’s how to get there.

CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY, CONSISTENCY!

This is the biggest and best tip I will ever give. BE CONSISTENT. And by this I mean post at least one video a week, but the more, the better! (although, don’t post just for the sake of posting. if only posting once a week means you’re proud of everything you release, do that)
On my channel I post a new video every 2–3 days. This keeps my audience coming back for more. They know they will get new content from me every few days.
Imagine your favourite TV show only releasing a new episode once a month.. you’d probably get bored of that show and find a new one sooner or later.

MOTIVATION — Think of every video you post as buying a lottery ticket. the more you post, the more tickets you have and therefore the more opportunities you have of winning.
By this I mean you have a much higher chance of having one of your videos hit the algorithm and take off, potentially blowing up your channel. So the more videos you post, the higher chance you have of a viral video and the beginning of your YouTube career!

INTERACT WITH EVERYONE

Reply to every comment you get. Except the creepy ones that say ‘I love your tigers short !!! With that, i will roar to pleasure !!!’ and yes, that is a direct copy and paste of one of my comments. Just ignore those ones!
If someone has taken the time to watch your video and leave a comment, even if it just says ‘loved this’ reply to it!
This builds a relationship with your audience, and the more you interact with them the more they’ll feel like they know you, and watch all your videos.

DON’T GIVE UP

I know, this tip just sounds like a cliche, we’ve all heard it before. but DON’T give up! It’s so easy to get discouraged with YouTube. You can put hours of work into one video for it to get 12 views. you can post every 3 days for a year and only gain 200 subscribers (which is still awesome, by the way!) But it’s so easy to want to give up when you see creators like Emma Chamberlain seemingly blow up overnight.. why doesn’t that ever happen to your channel?
Well it never will if you give up. This is another reason to be passionate about what you do, because you’re probably not going to stick to it if you don’t absolutely love it. Keep posting. Eventually 12 views will turn into 120, which will turn into 1,200, which will turn into 12,000 which will soon be a pretty decent pay check and all your hard work will be worth it.

Honestly it’s as simple as 1, 2, 3. Post often, interact with your audience and stay passionate and dedicated. Success will follow, you just have to believe in yourself and your channel and be aware that this takes time. Unless you’re Emma Chamberlain, this doesn’t happen overnight. There will be successful days and there will be days when you lose 50 subscribers. Ride it out and repeat.
