Being stuck at home in isolation is something we’re all experiencing at the moment.
The health and safety of those around us is extremely important, so I hope you’re staying home where possible.
But because of all this, you’ve probably found you have a little extra time on your hands..
If you’re anything like me you like to post a fun instagram picture now and again, but stuck at home how on earth will you keep this up?

As a creative person having an at home self photoshoot was a huge creative outletfor me, as I came up with all these fun different shots.. (including this one in a bath tub?? Only acceptable in self isolation right?!)

I used my Canon m50 set up on a tripod. This camera is able to connect to my iphone through wifi and I am able to control the shutter release through an app on my phone. (Although self timer on a phone will also do the trick!)

I changed outfits after every photo and moved to a new location. And by location.. I mean room in my house!
It’s very simple to point and shoot your camera at yourself smiling and get a cute portrait out of it, but this has been done time and time again. Look for something a little different. There was a beautiful beam of light shining through my bedroom window, so I positioned myself in this light to create an illuminated self portrait I wouldn’t have been able to create otherwise.

A photo like this will really bring out the colour in your eyes.

Being ‘stuck’ at home doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with your photography and your instagram. If anything it’s an excuse to get a little weird. Spend a few hours taking photos, weather it be of yourself, your dog or just a cute flatlay on your bed. Be a photographer for a day and see where your creativity takes you.
I’m not talented with photoshop, but I whipped it out to create a photo where I was ‘hanging out with all my friends’ in isolation… but it’s all me?!

Terrible photoshop skills, but a fun Instagram post!

Okay, maybe isolation is sending me a little crazy. But at least I got some cool photos out of it.

Get creative, have fun and get shooting.
